Students should reference the Tuition and Fees tab to see information regarding Tuition, Required Fees, Housing, and Meal Plans. All tuition and fees are approved by either the Appalachian State University Chancellor or The UNC Board of Governors. A detailed description can be found on the Tuition and Fees tab and selecting the appropriate student type (Main Campus or Distance Education) as well as the appropriate level.
Included in the Required Fees for Main Campus Undergraduate Students is the Book Rental Fee. The rental program is a unique program designed to save undergraduate students money and to conserve resources. To learn more about how the book rental program works and what is covered in the program, please see the Textbook Rental Program webpage. Additionally, for supplemental materials and books not covered by the textbook rental program, The Office of Student Financial Aid includes an additional allowance for any items not covered by the book rental program for main campus undergraduate students. Students who participate in a military tuition assistance program who withdraw from a term are subject to a percentage of their assistance being returned to the awarding agency which at times may leave a balance owed to the University. The percentage is aligned with the return of aid rules applicable to Federal student aid as required under section 484B of the Department of Education Title IV of the Higher Education Act. Funds will be returned to the awarding agency based on the schedule for drop/withdrawals and can be found at the link Percentage returned to awarding agency.
